The mandate of the UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights is seeking a research consultant to assist with the preparation of a research memorandum on In-Work Poverty in Latin America and Africa.

Description
The position will involve conducting research on key topics related to in-work poverty in Latin America and Africa. Prospective applicants will conduct independent research guided by a supervisor through written feedback and regular meetings. Expected outputs include a research memorandum in English of 10 to 15 pages (approximately 8,000-10,000 words) and to operate as a ‘resource person’, of whom the team can ask questions about in-work poverty in Latin America and Africa. The memorandum will cover key legislation, policy, and implementation issues, drawing on relevant research and analysis.
Qualifications and experience
Graduate degree in sociology, law, public policy, economics, or related discipline (required); expertise in the area of in-work poverty (required); experience conducting critical and message-focused literature reviews (required); knowledge of international law and human rights, including socio-economic rights (preferred).
