The mandate of the UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights is looking for a consultant to assist with the preparation of a country mission to Kyrgyzstan.

Description: The position will consist in conducting research on key topics related to poverty, social protection, and employment regulations in Kyrgyzstan. Prospective applicants will conduct independent research guided by a supervisor through written feedback and regular meetings. Expected outputs include a research memorandum of 20 to 30 pages (approximately 12,000w), including a revision of current legislation and its implementation, quantitative data, and related media coverage, both in both English and Kyrgyz, and assist with the identification of key civil society partners ahead of the mission.

Qualifications: graduate degree in law, public policy, economics, or related discipline (essential); expertise in socioeconomic conditions, social policy, and labor rights (essential); knowledge of international law and human rights, including socio-economic rights (preferred but not essential).

Languages: English and Kyrgyz required; Russian an asset.

Compensation: Compensation has been set at a flat fee of 3,000€ (against timesheet and deliverables).
